Crow Art

Crow Art

In pastels - watercolor - oils - pen/pencil - colored pencil.  Crows are the smartest bird in the forest.  Unfortunately they have a bad reputation that stems from ancient superstitions and lore.  They are my favorite bird and I never lose interest in painting one, or two, or more.   Enjoy the collection!  Some are available for purchase.

Daydreaming Art - Miniatures

Daydreaming Art - Miniatures

Miniature Art work done in Oils, Watercolors, and Oil Pastels on various sized panels and includes a miniature easel.  Since everyone desires to be somewhere else at some point, these miniatures offer a 'quick get-a-away' from the noise of life.  They are perfect for a place on a desk, bookcase, or table to momentarily gaze at for peaceful meditation or contemplation which is known to help reduce stress and lower blood pressure.   They are priced according to size and detail of painting.   :)

(Easels shown are display only.  Easels included are smaller and do not show above the artwork)

Soft and Oil Pastel Paintings

Soft and Oil Pastel Paintings

In many different moods and scenes.  Most of my work in pastels is done Plein Air (on location), weather permitting.  Many of the scenes are done in local forests and parks, or taken from my own photo references.  I look to capture the essence and mood of the moment that I'm seeped in with the goal to bring its beauty and peace, locked in time on a piece of paper, for your eyes to rest on.  If it soothes your soul and spirit and brings you inner peace, I've done my job.  Enjoy!

Pen and Pencil Drawings

Pen and Pencil Drawings

Graphite pencil and Markers in many different subjects.   Statues are intriguing to me and I tend to gravitate to them.  They make me wonder about the Sculptor, his thoughts, his reasons for creating such beauty locked in stone for eternity.  I enjoy recreating his/her work with just a pencil instead of hammer and chisel.  I am also fascinated to create nature scenes with pencil or pen due to the complexity of the challenging scene before me.   It's an honor to be able to sketch a stately tree!

Colored Pencil

Colored Pencil

Colored Pencils - like 'paint' inside a wooden casing instead of on the tip of bristles.  It's a rewarding and enjoyable medium to work with.  I prefer working on colored paper, black being my preference as it illumines the subject matter in a magical way.

Byzantine Icons

Byzantine Icons

Acrylics on panel boards or canvas with a 23 K gold leaf halo or background.  Icons are considered a sacred art form (although I believe all art is sacred in its own way).  But icons hold a different place and performance than mere decoration.  Icons are painted according to Ancient Tradition and depict the persona and image of a saint or holy person.  Icons are used for meditation and prayer in a spiritual practice and discipline and may bring about an inner peace when approached as so.  Many pieces here are large and are shown for the purpose how Icons are used in an Orthodox Church.   At present, I am not accepting icon commissions.

Water Color

Water Color

In many different subjects.  Water flows.  Color added to water flows in surprising ways.  Pleasant mistakes they're called, but they can make a beautiful background and a unique look.  I work in two styles.  One tight and precise and one loose and flowing.  Both ways are rewarding and delightful.

Oil Paintings

Oil Paintings

In many different scenes and subjects.  The paintings that have an almost unfinished look about the edges are called Vignettes.  It's a specific style with a specific look.  Others are painted with completed edges.  All Oil Paintings can be framed or unframed.  Smaller sizes do well on a table easel and larger pieces don't have to have a frame as gallery wrapped canvas is the thing today. ( So. . . no need to say you don't have room.)  Oil paintings are rich in color, substance, and feel.  And last forever!
